Piano and specialist item removals

“Used the trolley and blankets, very careful on the ramp.”

Marcus B., Greenwich

Some items need more than blankets and straps. Pianos, safes, gym equipment and artwork are heavy, awkward, or valuable enough that we handle them as a specialist booking rather than folding them into a general load.

For pianos specifically, tell us upright or grand when you book — each carries its own surcharge (£110 upright, £260 grand) that covers the stair-climbing trolley, extra blankets and specialist tie-downs the job actually needs, rather than guessing at a generic 'heavy item' fee.

Safes and gym equipment (home gyms, treadmills, weight racks) are priced as part of your general booking with the assembly/disassembly extra where relevant — mention the approximate weight when you book so we send a van and helper count that can actually manage it.

Artwork and antiques usually travel best with extra blankets and, for anything glazed or especially fragile, your own additional wrapping — let us know in the booking notes and we'll make sure it's loaded last and unloaded first.

FAQ

Questions about this service

What's the difference in price between upright and grand pianos?
Upright pianos carry a £110 surcharge, grand pianos £260 — grands need more hands, more floor space in the van, and more careful loading.
Can you move a piano up or down stairs?
Yes, with the stair-climbing trolley — the standard per-flight stairs charge also applies on top of the piano surcharge.
Do you move gun safes or heavy home safes?
Yes — tell us the approximate weight when booking so we send a large enough van and helper count.
Is my piano insured during the move?
Basic transit cover applies — for a particularly valuable instrument, consider your own specialist insurance and let us know so we can take extra care.
